On the way to Invercargill I dozed off on the trip (which I hate doing because you miss so much) but when I woke up we had stopped at the most curious spot I’ve ever experienced… It’s called The Lost Gypsy Gallery, which has been created by an amazing guy called Blare. It’s a small piece of land that houses a vintage bus filled with the most interesting gizmos and gadgets. The space is so wonderfully eccentric as soon as I stepped inside two thoughts came to mind 1. I never want to leave! and 2. This guys mind must be a scary place!
All the gadgets are beautifully hand crafted, hand-cranked devices that do everything and nothing, there is no purpose to any of it, which is fantastic it’s just there to be admired and used…. Places like this fascinate me, where every corner is covered with images torn out of books or papers, small technical sketches of interesting creations or ideas and then the madness of the creations that completely surround you while a toy train is hurrying around amongst everything. It has a touch of trainspotting about it. I took some photos which I’ll list below to try and explain this curious spot better than my words.
But for any of you passing by defiantly stop and have a look!
